Social Media Week 2013 is produced by Chinwag and powered by Nokia. One of the ways it is able to happen so fluidly is the team that makes up Chinwag.

This year there have been old and new faces added to the team.

Sam Michel

Founder and CEO at Chinwag

Sam MichelSam founded Chinwag in 1996, as a hub for those working in the digital industry, since then it has become one of the leading community organizations for the digital sector running regular events, the UK’s leading niche jobs board, Chinwag jobs and helping digital professionals develop their skills, expertise and businesses.

Sam devised and produces the Digital Missions, a series of overseas events with UK Trade and Investment. He speaks and writes regularly about the digital economy, communities that evolve around social media and digital marketing.

Hattie Nicholson

Operations and Events Coordinator at Chinwag

Hattie Nicholson Hattie has worked at Chinwag since December 2012 and has assisted on the event management, logistics and recruitment of Digital MissionsCareers Day and Chinwag Psych.

Before Chinwag, Hattie assisted on the sports events programme at Cancer Research UK, one of the world’s largest fundraising medical research charity.

Fleur Hosken

 Comms, Social and Media Partnerships at Chinwag

Fleur Fleur has worked at Chinwag since December 2012, she most recently project managed the Careers Day at Digital Shoreditch. Fleur organises media partnerships for events, content creation for the chinwag blog and works on community management.

Before Chinwag, Fleur interned at 1000heads, Carve Consulting and The Daily Mirror once she realised living on a ski hill was pretty cold.

Marius Maritz

Event and Operations Manager at Chinwag

Marius MartizMarius worked at Chinwag during Social Media Week London in 2012 and has joined the team again this year as Events and Operations Manager.

With a good breadth of cross-sector experience as an Event Producer, Marius possesses over 10 years experience working agency, in-house and venue side delivering various programmes and events, including London Fashion Week, Digital Shoreditch Festival, CNBC European Business Leaders Awards, London 2012 Summer Olympics and many more.

Dyan Fuller

Content director at Chinwag

Dylan FullerDylan is the co-founder of Local Social Labs which provides strategic digital consulting and produces Local Social Summit, a boutique one-day event which has been exploring the intersection of Social, Local and Mobile since 2009.

Previously, Dylan was the head of B2C advertising at eBay for the UK and 5 markets across western Europe. Prior to eBay, he worked at Microsoft as a senior director of advertising solutions and VP of product management at pay-per-click search pioneer Espotting. Dylan, a digital native, built his first website in 1992 whilst working at The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Originally from California, he lives in London with his family – his European adventure began back in 1999. Likes: coffee from ‘real’ coffee shops, craft beer and building things with the kids.

Stuart Gardner

Sponsorship and Partners Manager at Chinwag

Stuart Gardener Stuart has been involved with Social Media Week London since 2010, as an attendee, an event organiser, and now with Chinwag as Sponsorships and Partners Manager.

Prior to joining Chinwag, Stuart spent three years involved in all things social as Head of Business Development at Comufy, a leading Social Media Management and CRM platform, and Facebook Preferred Marketing Developer. Whilst at Comufy, Stuart worked on social media projects for clients including The BBC, Unilever and Sony.

Ksenya Gray

SMWLDN Assistant

Ksenya GrayKsenya is returning to Chinwag this year after working on Social Media Week London last year. Recently, she has dived into the fringe theatre and pursuing a future in the social media and communications field. She has honed in on her skills from working in theatre, mostly backstage and on the technical side of productions for over fourteen productions in the last year.

She is excited to be joining the team as an intern again and working on the one of the busiest weeks of the year at Chinwag.

Zhejun-Terri Liu

 SMWLDN Assistant

Terri LuiTerri has joined Chinwag in July 2013 as a SMWLDN assistant, she assists in the 2013 Social Media Week’s events, hubs and masters classes.

Terri is currently pursuing a M.P.A degree in Economic Policy at London School of Economics and Political Science and she received her B.A. in economics and studio arts from University of Rochester, USA. Before Chinwag, Terri worked as a communications intern at the Wilderness Society and a short-term consultant at the World Bank Group.
