For our final day hosting the Business and Entrepreneurship Hub at Bloomberg London HQ, SMWLDN and Nokia have saved a very special run of events.

There’s a certain theme which predominates, with the question of mankind’s relationship to our tiny but mighty machines being approached from a number of different angles. If you’ve ever thrown your phone down in despair just to pick it back up again (or seen a colleague do just that), then you’re bound to find something to titillate. Get wise:

In this revealing talk, The Web Psychologist Nathalie Nahai reveals the psychological and neurochemical ways in which your mobile is demanding, shaping and depleting your attention. With more and more of us suffering from connection fatigue and internet addiction, it’s crucial we arm ourselves with the tools and the knowledge we need to become the master, and not the slaves, of our devices.

Enterprise Social Platforms – Are We just Putting Lipstick on the Pig?

13:00 – 15:00 at Bloomberg Hub

Intranets revolutionised the way that businesses handled information, at a time when information was a scarce resource. They built it, and we came. But has the intranet has been left behind now that everything is going ‘Social’. Is it really the place where information goes to die? Can making it social really bring it back to life, or just be pouring oil on to water? Hear from a group of leading practitioners, and perhaps a brave vendor or two, who have been on the cutting edge, and sometimes the sharp end of the pointy stick. Real stories, real discussion and real debate, getting to the heart of the impact of Social Platforms on businesses – the good, the bad and the plain ugly – and take away some knowledge.
