DigitalSurrey October 2014
Event Info
Description
Welcoming all with an interest in the digital world, DigitalSurrey is a not for profit informal business community that exists for people to meet up, network, learn and share. The community aims to create and drive opportunity – through sector-leading knowledge, diverse connections and a friendly collaborative approach.
We are excited to announce that the next DigitalSurrey free networking event will give you an insightful introduction to Web 3.0, the Semantic Web. Semantic Web technologies enable people to create data stores on the Web, build vocabularies, and write rules for handling data. You use the semantic web every day; you just don’t know it yet.
The DigitalSurrey event will be on Thursday 2nd October 2014, from 6:30pm – 10pm at the YMCA Guildford riverside suite. Save your seat now
The semantic web (Web 3.0) has begun, and we’re still adjusting to the changes wrought by Web 2.0, the social web. Our expert speaker, Jarred McGinnis will present a gentle introduction to the semantic web and explain what it is, what the impact on business will be and how you can take advantage of it.
Jarred McGinnis is a consultant in Semantic Technologies and visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London. Previously he was the Head of Research, Semantic Technologies, at the Press Association, investigating the role of technologies such as in the news industry. Dr. McGinnis received his PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh in 2006.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
