The lecture will be given by Professor Sir Michael Pepper, who is Pender Professor of Nanoelectronics in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Honorary Professor of Physics at University College London (UCL). His lecture will discuss the structure of advanced semiconductor devices and his pioneering work in helping to develop them for modern usage. As well as offering a theoretical insight into the workings of semiconductor structures, he will also share examples of their pioneering application in equipment like terahertz cancer imaging, which has helped in the detection of the disease in patients. He will also suggest the role semiconductors will play in the future particularly when it comes to the storage of data and in quantum computing. Professor Pepper is no exception and his lecture will offer real insight for delegates into the worlds of electrical and electronic engineering.
