The most fail-safe detection schemes I've seen use Flash to detect itself, 

then use a MetaRefresh to a non-Flash page if no Flash is detected. Colin 

Moock has done lots of work on this (detecting Flash2,3, &4 in one 

sniffer). See his Flash info at
