New Journalist of the Year Awards 2008

The PTC New Journalist of the Year Awards event is the most important occasion of the year for the brightest and best of our industry’s emerging talent. Winning - or even being shortlisted - is a great achievement and confers tremendous prestige on a title as well as on the individual nominated. Now in their 25th year the awards have a reputation for promoting and rewarding excellence and are a brilliant and significant way to acknowledge and encourage gifted new stars. Previous winners are making their mark in some of the greatest magazine and professional media publishers in the world. We asked Dan Jones, PTC New Journalist of the Year award winner 2007, to tell us what winning meant to him. "Winning the PTC New Journalist of the Year award is a great way to measure yourself against your peers, which is something you only rarely get a chance to do early in your career. Theres no better measure for journalists new to the industry or to their role. For me the accolade gave me a sense of pride in what I’d done, and the confidence to pursue bigger goals in the years to come. Winning will be a landmark on your CV - I’d recommend that any ambitious new writer, editor or designer enters." The respected and prestigious PTC New Journalist awards are presented at an impressive lunch and ceremony held at the Millennium Mayfair, London. Last year some 270 guests joined in the celebrations.
