Pervasive Media/Theatre/Dance/Music/Sonic Art

We invite you to a discussion event at The Pervasive Media Studio to introduce our 2011 artists in residence, and to spark a conversation around their new work. Throughout April and May, two groups of artists are spending supported time at the studio, to develop new theatre and sonic/dance based works that use pervasive media and technologies.

Performance writer Sharon Clark and creative technologist Tom Burton will be developing a theatre piece inspired by Angela Carter. The Stick House will be an interactive space that fuses live theatrical performance, music and pervasive media into a darkly haunting, yet beautiful experience.

Laura Kriefman of the Guerilla Dance Project will be working with the composer Tim Bamber and the interactive experience designer Robin Ray to create a unique piece incorporating site-specific dance with field-recorded sound, music and pervasive media. They will be using spaces within St George's Bristol as a departure point.

Taking place on the 31 March, in their first week with us, this event will be an initial look at their ideas, concepts and plans. Join us from 3-5pm.

The residencies will last for three months, and your input is ongoing. Watch out for further work-in-progress and showcase events throughout April, May and June. After the event, we'll most likely head over to the Watershed bar to informally continue the conversation. If you would like to reserve a free place, please email grace [dot] dentonatwatershed [dot] co [dot] uk

The residencies are supported by Arts Council England, Sound and Music, St George’s and Charles Hazelwood. For more information please visit the Pervasive Media Studio website:

We look forward to welcoming you.
