Whether you're new or experienced within the advertising industry you need to protect your copyright. Your original work has great potential value, but keeping hold of this asset or being paid appropriately can be challenging. This event will help you answer important questions about copyright and provide personal insight from Darren Richardson, co-founder of Gardiner Richardson.

The area of copyright can be daunting for many, but this session will cover a number of vital areas giving practical and personal advice. The workshop will include a short presentation from IP lawyer Alex Shiel as well as a chance to ask any questions regarding IP.

The speakers will be:
Alex Shiel
of Ward Hadaway. Alex is head of the IP and information technology (IP/IT) unit at Ward Hadaway and deals mainly with new technology businesses including life sciences start-ups, software developers, internet businesses and companies in the digital and new media industries.

Darren Richardson of Gardiner Richardson. Darren is a founder of Gardiner Richardson, company director and creative director – with over 22 years' specialist knowledge in design, branding and strategic related issues. Before establishing Gardiner Richardson in 1998, Darren was based in London for 10 years working with leading consultancies such as Landor Associates, Sampson Tyrrell and Roundel Design Group. Clients included Cathay Pacific, Delta Air Lines, Esselte, Shell International, Castrol and Norwegian Telecom. Since founding Gardiner Richardson, Darren has worked closely with clients such as The Sage Group plc, Go-Ahead, Home Group, Tyne & Wear Metro and Aviance in developing and implementing design strategies as well as advising on branding issues.

This event is taking place in association with Business Link. It will run from 3-6.30pm.
